Embers are Red, the Sky is Blue...
Ember Blues always wanted to be a Wonderbolt, but lacked the necessary physique to join. His wings were more that ready to be tested for the Academy, but he lacked the necessary mindset to comply with Academy standards. He had a case of high-level Aspergers Disorder, and it caused him to be "different" from everyone else. Even when going through flight school, he had problems socially, yet he passed well above school standards. He wanted to attend the Wonderbolt Academy to make his parents proud of following the line up of the Wonderbolt Generations. Unfortunately though with his physique somewhat lacking not in wing power, but in physical strength and his mental disorder, he was unable to join. Both him and his parents were distraught by this, though Ember never gave up.
Before his inspiration of becoming a Wonderbolt, Ember was a musician-a Jazz Alto Saxophonist to be specific. Since he was too young to join the Wonderbolts at the age of eight, he resorted to what he knew best-music. And the sound of jazz always lightened up his day. Heck, he became a fan of Chris Enigma (Stage Name YourEnigma), who was to be considered the jack of all trades-knowing genres from classic to jazz to even dubstep. Ember loved the mix, but wanted to stick to Smooth Jazz. In one of his concerts, he was chosen to do a solo-a difficult solo at that. He was nervous, but never stopped playing until he could he could get it right-and he did exactly that. After the concert, Spitfire noticed he had gained his Cutie Mark-which elated Ember.
Ember then started to become a fan of the Wonderbolts. He knew of the New Lieutenant that joined. Everytime she would make a Sonic Rainboom would light a fire in his heart, and made him want to join the Wonderbolts. He started to train on his training physically, but lacked any training on how to cope with his Aspergers. He went to his counselor in Canterlot, and even though they could give hime suggestions, they couldn't really help Ember. Disheartened, he started to lack on physical training, and Soarin noticed. Soarin asked what the deal was, his response being that Ember couldn't find a way to cope with his symptoms, but wanted to with a burning passion. Soarin sighed, knowing this was going to come sooner or later.
He asked Soarin if he could help him, and though Soarin could provide him physical training, all he could do was guide Ember though is Aspergers. After some hard effort and an improved mindset, Ember tried again for the Wonderbolt Academy, this time succeeding. He was elated, showing he could finally become a Wonderbolt and make his parents proud...that is, until halfway through the Academy. Spitfire noticed his shut-out behavior, and wanted to have a talk with Ember. Ember was called in her office, nervous for both good and bad reasons. Spitfire told him she witnessed, and Ember pouted, knowing it was true-until Spitfire woke him up. Spitfire WANTED to see her son graduate, but told him he can't if he can't cooperate with his team and make some friends. Ember was worried about this, but acknowledged her words.
The next day, he did his usual training, but with a twist. He was going to work with some other ponies-probably set-up by Spitfire to test him out. Then again, she does that with everypony. He went to cope with his new friends, and at first it went well and he rather enjoyed being with his teammates. He sooner got to know them by name, including Cloud Chaser, Green Breeze, and Wave Breaker. Ember felt like he belonged somewhere. He also got to know their background and why they wanted to join in the first place. Even though their backgrounds were VERY different from each other, it seemed that their desire towards being a Wonderbolt were one and the same. Because of Lieutenant Rainbow Dash, creator of the Sonic Rainboom. Ember loved the idea of having the same reason to be somewhere as somepony else, and he truly felt welcome to the Academy. Everything went swimmingly from training to hanging out with his friends.
Then came the final exam. He took the History exam, and that was a breeze (History was his best subject) but knowing about fundamentals within and off the premises was tough. And the written part was the first half. He had to act it out with the others who made it through the Academy. With Lieutenant Rainbow Dash of all ponies being the Examiner, and everypony and their relatives being the audience. To him, knowing your friends watching you was one thing. Having his friends, ponies he didn't know, and his PARENTS being the audience is a WHOLE different story. But you know what? He passed. With flying colours!! Sure he was nervous as TARTARUS up on stage, but he pulled through. He went to see Spitfire and Soarin afterwards, crying with joy, not noticing Dash right behind them.
He almost fainted for acting like this around his leader. Or so he thought. Dash came up to him, praised him, then told him "See you at Training tomorrow!!" She trotted down the hallway, leaving Ember stunned. "What in Celestia's name just happened?" was all that he could muster. Spitfire grinned, and told him that he was now a Lieutenant of the Wonderbolts. He looked back at Rainbow Dash, just about to exit off a corner in the hallway, then looks back at Spitfire, then at Soarin who's beaming with happiness. He connected the dots, and realized his dream. He was going to be with Rainbow Dash not as a subordinate, but as her partner in command. He became elated, and hugged both his parents crying with joy. Hearing his friends, he turned his head, seeing astonished faces. Not at him, but at his parents.
It took Ember a while to notice what was going on, and in that period, they asked why he was talking to the Fisrt and Second in Command. He realized he never told them about his parents, due to them possibly getting the wrong idea. He told them, a bit nervously at that, and instead him expecting them complaining that he "had to do it becuase he's next in line", the were in awe that he had the top two fliers in Equestria as PARENTS. They asked him so many questions, which he told them not now, but at practice with Rainbow Dash. They immediately noticed him not saying Lieutenant Rainbow Dash, and told him about it. He grinned saying that she's still a Lieutenant, but so were they. It also took them a while to figure it out, and they jumped for joy. Ember laughed, knowing that he could do what he wanted with his friends and Rainbow Dash. Seeing his parents happy only made it the experience more worthwhile. He still remembers what they all said before galloping across the hallway.
"BEST. DAY. EVER!!!" *Quad Air Brohoof*
Then Spitfire yelled at them for running in the halls. They trotted quickly down the halls, with both Ember and Spitfire grinning.
